They are all college graduates and most hold professional certifications. Some of the professional designations held by members of the Service Lloyds risk control staff:
CSP – Certified Safety Professional. This is a certification awarded by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. In order to become a CSP a candidate must pass two separate peer certified exams as well as meet stringent educational and professional experience criteria. This is considered by many to be the premier certification in the field of professional safety.
ARM- Associate in Risk Management. This is an insurance designation in the field of risk management.The designation is awarded only after completing three separate examinations that are given worldwide. The AICPCUIIA (American Institute for Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriters and Insurance Institute of America) is the governing board for this designation.
CRM – Certified Risk Manager. This is an insurance and risk management designation governed by The National Alliance for Insurance Education and Research. The designation is awarded only after successfully completing the five courses in risk management and passing each examination. CRM classes are given nationwide and are rapidly becoming the “gold standard” for risk managers.
CSHM – Certified Safety and Health Manager. This designation is earned by completing the examination process which includes a requirement for education and experience. The ISHM (Institute for Safety and Health Management) is the governing body for this designation and the popularity of this designation grows every year.
OHST – Occupational Health and Safety Technologist. This designation is awarded through the CCHEST (Council on Certification of Health, Environmental and Safety Technologist). It is earned by completing the appropriate examination and meeting the experience requirements.
CPCU – Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter. This certification is awarded by “The Institutes”, formerly the AIICPCU. This designation requires passing 8 exams plus 2 additional non-CPCU insurance exams. It is often considered the gold standard for professional insurance personnel.
